Honoring Our Legacy, Living Our Faith

Founders’ Legacy Bishops Eddie and Geraldine Newton Bailey

December 28, 1958, Bishop Geraldine Newton Bailey answered the call upon her life and preached her initial sermon. Understanding that her calling was mandated by the Lord, she founded the Resurrection Pentecostal Holiness Church of God in Christ, in Hamlet, NC in 1961. While ministering in the Hamlet, NC area, she was asked to pastor part-time at the Burning Bush Holiness Church in Laurinburg, NC. As the ministry grew under the anointing and guidance of the Holy Spirit in 1962, she added True Way to the church name.

In July 1962, while conducting an official church meeting at 322 New Rand Rd, Garner, NC, it was directed that the church be incorporated. Once again following the voice of the Holy Spirit and those in fellowship with her on September 17, 1962, Pastor Bailey signed the Articles of Incorporation with the State of North Carolina. On September 20, 1962, at 10:30 am Thad Eure, then Secretary of State for North Carolina approved her request. After receiving the Articles of Incorporation, she worked to expand the ministry. Always in prayer with the Lord about how to build the Kingdom, in 1962, she hosted the first Annual Holy Convocation. Soon after that she began hosting Quarterly Conferences (known as 5th Sunday Union Services).
She continued to hold services in the Garner and Raleigh area. Services were held in several family dwellings, and she spent time evangelizing across the state but she knew the church needed a permanent edifice. In 1963, Mrs. Pearlie Holman (later recognized as Mother) shared with Pastor Bailey that her husband’s desire was to build a church on his land. Even though Mr. Holman was deceased, she (Mother Holman) carried out her husband’s wishes. She gifted Pastor Bailey a parcel of land for the church and a parcel of land for her family dwelling; this was another prayer answered. Shortly after the transfer of deeds, the True Way Holiness Church began construction in 1963, the edifice of True Way Holiness Church was built (Panther Branch Township), in Raleigh, NC. Fulfilling the desire “to get a people ready for the rapture”, she opened the church doors to all denominations. True Way became known for its church motto: “The Temple of Praise” and the inspirational hymn “Because He Lives” ministered to many.
Sharing in her vision, in 1964, her husband (Brother Eddie Bailey) answered the call of ministry. He served the church in many capacities with his most passionate position, President of the Usher Board for 50 years. In his final calling, he served as the Senior Bishop of True Way Holiness Church Ministry headquartered in Raleigh, NC. A man quiet in spirit with a gentle heart was known for the sayings, “if you stay with the Lord he will sho nuff stay with you” and “Be Nice.” Seen as a man of wisdom he enjoyed sharing his life experiences with young men. The Bailey legacy lives on through the generations! Her VISION: The SIX Butterbeans!

Our Lead Pastor Elder Eddie Bailey-Holden

Elder Eddie Bailey-Holden is a faithful and devoted woman of God. Although she gave her heart to the Lord at a young age, it wasn’t until later in life that she fully surrendered her heart, mind, and soul to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
Eddie is the youngest daughter of the late Bishops Eddie Jr. and Geraldine Newton Bailey. She and her five sisters served in ministry together until the passing of one sister in 2024. A lifelong member of True Way Holiness Church in Raleigh, NC, Eddie continues to honor the legacy of her mother, the late Bishop Geraldine N. Bailey, who faithfully served as founder, overseer, and pastor for over 50 years.
Elder Eddie received her early education through the Wake County Public School System and went on to attend Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Business Management in 1993. In 2011, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling, followed by a Master of Arts in Ministry in 2013—both from Justice Fellowship International College in Raleigh, NC.

In 2016, Eddie retired after 32 years of service with one of the world’s most prestigious global shipping companies. Deeply committed to both ministry and community, she has been actively involved in various outreach initiatives. In 2012, Eddie accepted the call to preach and was licensed and ordained in 2016. Two years later, she became an Amazon bestselling co-author of the #1 motivational book, Beyond Her Reflection. Eddie is a proud Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the founder of Legacy Ministries—an outreach ministry that serves the community, strengthens those within the church, and continues the legacy of her beloved parents. In April 2025, Elder Eddie Bailey-Holden was graciously elected as the lead pastor of True Way Holiness Church Ministries. She also serves as the Family Community Center Director at Lea Funeral Home. For the past 35 years, Eddie Bailey-Holden has been the faithful and loving wife of Trustee Emeritus William “Bill” Holden and together they have one son, Isaac; however, when God blessed her with Bill he also blessed her with three bonus sons: Corey, Brian and Gerald and nine grandchildren. All of her life God has been faithful and good to her. She has completely sold out for him. She is definitely a PRAISER but when she needs a little inspiration from the cares of this world, her favorite hymn is “The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow!” Pastor E as she is affectionately called by her congregation stands on Ephesians 3:16, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His spirit in your inner being.”

Scripture “Where there is no vision, the people perish:” — Proverbs 29:18

“Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” — Habakkuk 2:2–3
